 2016 Session
The General Assembly will return to Columbia for the beginning of the 2016 legislative session on Tuesday, January 12 at 12:00pm.

2016 Budget Calendar
The House Ways & Means Committee has released the House’s tentative 2016 budget calendar, which is listed below.

  • January 12-14: Budget Subcommittee Meetings
  • January 19-21: Budget Subcommittee Meetings
  • January 26-28: Budget Subcommittee Meetings
  • February 2-4: Budget Subcommittee Meetings
  • February 9-11: Proviso Subcommittee Meetings
  • February 15-18: Full Ways & Means Committee Budget Deliberations
  • February 23-25: Appropriation Bill Printed
  • March 1-3: Printed Appropriation Bill Distributed to All House Members
  • March 7-11: House Floor Budget Deliberations  


Special Election
A special election will be held this spring to fill the vacancy in Senate District 4. Senator Billy O’Dell (R-Ware Shoals) passed away this week from a suspected heart attack. The primary for the special election will be held on Tuesday, March 22 and the general election will be held on Tuesday, May 17.
